There are several ways to gather information about people. One way is to contact every person or nearly every person and ask them questions about what you need to know. Talking to everyone is called a complete enumeration and a national census is a good example of this type of information gathering. This is very costly because it takes a lot of people to talk to everyone. However, in cases such as a national census, it is necessary to have a complete enumeration despite the cost.
Learn MoreNo survey can achieve success without a well-designed questionnaire. But in as much as questionnaire has no theoretical base to guide the development of a flawless questionnaire. What we reply on is a lengthy list of do’s and don’ts born out of the experience of other researchers past and present.
However, in the design of a questionnaire DRMC always make sure to include qualified persons/ partners in fields of interest to ensure proper and a better development of the questionnaire.
Although some people are more adept at interviewing than others, one can become a good interviewer through experience therefore DRMC also ensure that its field functionaries have experience not just in interviewing but in the research area of interest.
DRMC training usually consist of a combination of classroom training for a couple of day to weeks depending on the tools involved and practical experience which is done by carrying out a pre-test in a locality with similar characteristics with that of the study sample.
DRMC has carried out several data collection exercise both qualitative and quantitative, and we have always ensure that we meetup to the time given by our Clients by developing a timetable for fieldwork, and selection of functionaries with experience and knowledge of the sample area.
Fieldwork for data collection will proceed according to a timetable developed by Mr Inuwa B. Jalingo, and DRMC ensure the survey is successful by supervising each member of the interviewing team and making sure they understands and follows correct field procedures. The review of these procedures and description of the proper procedures for receiving work assignments and keeping records of selected respondents are discussed during the training.
Data entry is carried out during or after the fieldwork at the Data processing Centre (DPC) of DRMC which is located at the Head Office, using data collection applications like CSpro, which is designed and programed by the Mr Adekanmbi T. O. a renounced programmer in CSpro and other languages.
DRMC ensures that the Data entry clerks involved in data entry are skilled and experience and will adhere to the ethics of the survey.
Data Analysis is carried out after the Data entry process by the DRMC team which is led by Prof. Samson Adebayo B. and Mr Osifo Tellson O. who are very experienced in data analysis and interpretation
DRMC have the capacity and means to procure GPS tools both in Nigeria and Abroad, and has carried out many Surveys using GPS in the past and still does.
DRMC offers GPS tools usage training to functionaries and interested parties and also Analysis reading of GPS
DRMC carry out tracking by ensuring the field tracking team who are trained, selected and grouped into teams will first verify that they are in the correct cluster using the cluster location map, the household map, and the GPS coordinates of the cluster. Once it is confirmed that they are in the correct location, the team begins their search for survey respondents.
DRMC encourages the tracking team to ask questions and to source information about the respondents and verify before filling the tracking documents to ensure accuracy.
